Sheepskin and Deerskin Colors

We want to make sure that you are satisfied with the color you choose for your Sheepherder product. Below we’ve included images of the full uncut hides so that you can have a view of the colors we offer. The wool and suede colors cannot be interchanged. This is the way the tannery produces them.  Please keep in mind that each computer monitor and printer will show these colors a little differently. Also, because this is a natural hide there is a slight variation from dye lot to dye lot and from hide to hide.

Sheepskin Colors

Please use this color guide as a general basis for choosing your sheepskin color.  However, please be aware that sheepskin is a natural hide and as a result, each hide may be slightly different from the next and each dye lot may vary.  Because this is a custom garment and it is not made from an artificial sheepskin, there may be slight variations in hue or texture. Also, be aware that there may be slight marks on your garment.  These are not defects but just part of the hide and makes each piece an individual. All of the shearling used by The Sheepherder is a true hide, meaning that the wool and the suede sides of the material are of the same hide.  They are not two different pieces of material sewn together.  This is one of the major differences when you purchase a high quality sheepskin garment made from true shearling versus a lower quality imitation sheepskin hide.  Please note that two of our new colors Black Brisa and Brown Brisa are a lighter weight skin and have a bit shorter wool on them.  If you prefer a thicker, denser wool these are not the colors for you.  If you have any questions about choosing a color for your sheepskin jacket or vest, please feel free to contact me at any time.

Not all of our colors are available for every item.

Deerskin Colors

Please use this color guide as a general basis for choosing your deerskin garment color.  However, please be aware that deerskin is a natural hide and as a result, each hide may be slightly different from the next and each dye lot may vary.  Because this is a custom garment and it this is not artificial leather, there may be slight variations in hue or texture.  Also, be aware that there may be slight marks on your garment.  These are not defects but just part of the hide and makes each piece an individual.
